I started this blog in September 2009, after having lost 20 pounds in less than three months. Since then, I have made other changes that have exceptionally improved my overall health, and I’ve lost even more weight.
Here’s what I’ve been doing.
- I eat what I want, carefully measuring everything – then I document it all on FitDay
- [When I remember to,...] I take photos of what I eat (and then post on my blog)
- I eat mostly vegetables, beans and grains
- Whenever possible, I eat food that is good for me and good for the planet; e.g., organic plants, humanely raised animals
- I exercise in some way every day. The only times I don’t exercise is when it would harm my health in some way to do so.
- [Starting in February 2010...] I eat gluten, dairy and soy free after discovering I have an intolerance for these foods. Except [lucky me!] butter.
My goal is to master the behaviors and habits that will help me achieve and maintain excellent health, including a sustainable and healthy weight. You won’t see me obsessing over calories – I love good food too much.
I hope you enjoy following along while I figure out how to live healthier! And, I hope you join into the discussion.
